Gregory M. DiDio
Greg is an Associate of Rich Consulting and has over 20 years of diverse utility industry experience. His professional history includes:
- 4 years with Kite Technology Group, providing a variety of technology management and consulting services for commercial clients.
- 17 years with Baltimore Gas & Electric (BGE) with assignments in information technology, distribution system operations, underground lines construction, and new business engineering.
Recent Projects
Projects that Greg has developed and managed in recent years include:
- Service Management and Network Monitoring Deployment. Greg implemented a professional services automation system and network monitoring system. Together these tools allowed his client to perform comprehensive monitoring and service management for over 90 servers on approximately 30 separate small networks.
- Mobile Dispatch System Implementation. Greg served as project manager of this $12 million system implementation and was responsible for RFP development, vendor bid evaluation, system selection, configuration, integration, user training and change management. This project included the first time implementation of computers in over 500 construction vehicles, and included the necessary system and process training of construction crews.
- Dispatch Operations Improvement (a Six Sigma Project). Led a six sigma team in analyzing electric control center dispatch operations and re-designing work processes to fully leverage a recent mobile dispatch system implementation.
- Outage Management System Replacement. This project addressed the replacement of a mainframe outage management system that was custom-developed by a large electric and gas utility nearly 30 years ago. Greg worked with the Rich Consulting team in developing a detailed analysis of all elements of functionality that would have to be replaced and all interfaces that would have to be developed to support the replacement of the mainframe system with a commercially available client server system.
Previous Experience
Greg led a 30 person application development and maintenance organization responsible for critical transmission and distribution support systems including energy management, substation and distribution automation, outage management, work and asset management systems.
In a previous assignment, he served as Director of Design & Engineering for the New Business Department, where he was responsible for the design of all new electric and gas service connections. His responsibilities also included the development and implementation of comprehensive work management system to manage the design and construction of all new service connection projects.
Earlier in his career he was a Supervisor and Principal Engineer, responsible for the design of various system reinforcement and reliability projects for BGE’s Electric Distribution Business Unit.
In 2005, he joined Kite Technology Group, an IT network installation and operations firm, where he provides a variety of technology management and consulting services for commercial clients.
