John Gartside
John
is an Associate of the firm with more than 20 years of consulting and technology
implementation experience. His professional history includes:
- Gartside Consulting – Specializing in optimization
of geospatial, work management, and mobile resource management systems
for the utility industry.
- Geospatial Innovations, Inc. – Responsible
for project development through delivery of utility industry system implementations.
- GE Energy – Provided project management and technology
consulting on all GE Smallworld implementations with utility industry clients.
Recent Projects
Projects that John has developed and managed in recent years include:
- Mobile Workforce Management System Evaluation for Municipal Utility. Assisted
with the requirements definition and selection of a new mobile workforce
management system. Responsibilities included the development new
business processes, evaluation of potential vendors including software
and Automated Vehicle Location requirements, and the establishment of a
new wireless network to cover the operating territory.
- Determined Viability of Inherited GIS for Large Australian Electric
Utility. This was a two year assignment
that involved the development of a GIS viability business case. Responsibilities
included all aspects of system operations relating to mapping, design,
asset management, and operational performance improvements.
- Integration of GIS and Legacy System for Large Electric Utility. Led
a major initiative integrating SAP system with existing corporate GIS and
design system. Project required additional integration of a new web
based Storm Management application with pre-existing autonomous operational
systems.
Previous Experience
John has extensive information technology experience which encompasses business
consulting, project management, and system implementation. His concentration
has been on improving operational efficiencies through the optimization of
GIS, automated design, work management, and mobile resource management systems.
Throughout
his career, John has acquired broad management and technology consulting
experience in the utility industry. He has successfully
assisted utilities on all facets of major project initiatives, from conceptual
design to rollout, to subsequent performance improvement efforts. He
has also managed project teams in the design, application development, and
implementation of a wide variety of utility operational systems.
Programming Expertise
John has worked in various platforms including but not limited to servers
and workstations using Informix, Oracle, MS Access, and Smallworld VMDS.
Additionally, he is proficient in various software packages including Oracle
Financials, MS Project, and Siebel.
John has extensive experience in Geographical Information
Systems (Smallworld, MicroStation, Intergraph, ArcInfo, MapInfo, and AutoCad).
